“I love to empower people”
I am a passionate Physical Therapist (PT) with a deep specialization in Women’s Health, particularly pelvic floor dysfunction, and I am also a certified Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist (PCES). However, my true expertise lies in Myofascial Release (MFR), which is the foundation of my approach to therapy.
After taking my first course in Myofascial Release with John Barnes MFR®, I became profoundly aware of the fascia’s crucial role in our health and well-being. Since then, my practice has been transformed, and I’ve dedicated my career to helping patients achieve better health outcomes through this hands-on therapy. The results I’ve witnessed have been nothing short of life-changing for my patients, often surpassing any other treatments they’ve tried.

What problems do you address and what do you treat?I specialize in treating a range of conditions with a focus on myofascial release and pelvic floor therapy. My practice addresses issues such as chronic pain, pelvic pain, painful intercourse, endometriosis, infertility, and post-surgical scarring. I also work with children, helping them with sensory processing challenges, alignment issues, and myofascial restrictions related to conditions like scoliosis, posture problems and cerebral palsy. My approach is holistic, aiming to improve overall function, alleviate discomfort, and enhance quality of life for both adults and children.
-
Do you accept insurance?I do not bill health insurance directly, but I can provide you with a detailed "superbill" that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement under your out-of-network benefits. My focus is on providing personalized, patient-centered care without the limitations often imposed by insurance companies. This approach allows me to dedicate the time needed for comprehensive treatment sessions, helping my patients achieve their goals more eftectively and efficiently. By not being restricted to brief, insurance-mandated sessions, I can offer more in-depth care, leading to better outcomes in a shorter period.
-
How many sessions will I need? Many patients begin to notice positive changes after just a few sessions. During your initial evaluation, we'll discuss your specific needs and goals to determine the most effective treatment plan and estimate the number of sessions required to achieve the best results.
-
What should I expect during my first visit?During your first visit, we will start with a thorough evaluation to understand your specific needs and concerns. This includes discussing your medical history, current issues, and treatment goals. I will then perform a detailed assessment to determine the most appropriate course of action. Based on this evaluation, we will outline a personalized treatment plan and discuss what you can expect in terms of sessions and progress. The goal is to ensure you feel informed, comfortable, and confident about your treatment journey.

What is Myofascial Release Therapy (MFR)?The John F. Barnes Myofascial Release (MFR) approach is a gentle, hands-on therapy that applies sustained pressure to eliminate pain and restore function. It works by softening and lengthening the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds and supports the body's structures. This technique engages the fascial system without overstimulating or harming the surrounding areas. Fascial restrictions can place immense pressure on sensitive areas such as muscles, nerves, blood vessels, and bones, often resulting in pain and decreased range of motion. By releasing these restrictions, MFR promotes improved mobility and overall well-being.
-
Is MFR like a deep tissue massage? No, Myofascial Release (MFR) is quite different from deep tissue massage. MFR involves applying gentle, sustained pressure over time rather than forcing through restrictions. Deep tissue massage can sometimes be too aggressive, which may cause the body to go into a defensive state, creating a temporary fix rather than lasting change. This forceful approach can trigger a nervous system response, leading to resistance. With MFR, the therapist's hands gradually sink into the tissue until resistance is met. The fascia is then held for several minutes, typically 3-5, until it softens and releases naturally.
-
Does MFR hurt? When done correctly, Myofascial Release (MFR) won't cause harm and is typically not described as painful. The sensation often feels like gentle pressure or a slow "melting" of tension in the tissues. You may experience feelings in areas that seem unrelated, such as old injuries or scars. While these sensations might not always make sense right away, it's best to just focus on feeling them. It's also normal to feel a bit sore the day after treatment, but this soreness is not harmful and usually resolves quickly, leaving you with a sense of relief.
